Event Summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges and opportunities to Human Resources teams. It has reinforced that 'people' are the most valuable asset for companies. At the same time, many HR teams have been evolving to become more agile and adaptive to the changing business needs, especially those for the semiconductor sector.


SSIA HR Roundtable is an important platform for us to understand the needs of the industry when it comes to human capital. We will host our first Virtual HR Roundtable in 2021 and the theme will be "Emerge Stronger For the New Normal'.


Some of the items to be covered:

  1. Overview of the recent hiring and workforce development trends in the semiconductor sector
  2. Introduction of latest talent development supporting initiatives
  3. Discussion on the challenges in workforce, especially after the ease of restrictions on WFH arrangements from 5 April 2021

    Wee Seng Ang

    Executive Director of Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association

    Wee Seng has over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with experiences in Fab start up, process integration, technology development, yield improvement, manufacturing, equipment engineering, cost management and program management. Most recently, he adds global collaboration and team management into this list of experiences, as part of his role in global procurement in GlobalFoundries.

    Wee Seng now heads the SSIA Secretariat team as an Executive Director, overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. He is also a member of International Advisory Committee for Industry Transformation Asia- Pacific (ITAP) to drive Industry 4.0 transformation in Singapore and the region.

    Wee Seng holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University and Masters (MSc) in Management of Technology from National University of Singapore.

    Winston Wong is presently the Deputy Director of NTU Career Attachment Office (CAO) where he is responsible for work-integrated education programmes including managing all internship related programmes within NTU. Internship is a compulsory curriculum in NTU; hence the work-integrated education team manages over 6,000 internship placements for NTU students a year over its 35 different undergraduate degree programmes. In addition, work-integrated education in NTU also manages other related programmes such as Work-study Degree Programmes (WSDeg Prog) and NTU EDGE.
